Grand Canyon Junction…Where Driving Ends and Adventure Begins.
Valle, Arizona, is an unincorporated area that encompasses approximately 300 square miles of Coconino County made up of various Subdivisions, State Trust, Forest Service and Rural Unsubdivided tracts of land that extends from the junction of Hwy 180 and SR 64 north to the Kaibab National Forest boundary, then to the south it extends to the Red Lake Area Plan boundary at Howard Lake, also extending approximately seven (7) miles west and eight (8) miles east of Highway 64. Valle remains sparsely populated and is often confused with the Phoenix metropolitan area “The Valley”, some 200 miles south. Changing the name of community at the junction at US Hwy. 180 and State Route 64 to Grand Canyon Junction would reduce confusion and promote development of the area. Supporting this cause by having a more appealing and geographically appropriate name will permit the area to be marketed for what it is, an important Gateway Community to Grand Canyon National Park.
Joined by area land owners and stakeholders the Grand Canyon Junction Coalition was created to advocate support for the name change Valle to Grand Canyon Junction.

What could be said about Grand Canyon Junction…
Grand Canyon Junction is a unique community emerging from a history of limited growth that was primarily due to the lack of basic services (i.e. water, phone, electrical and a confusing name) and no local economy. But Grand Canyon Junction could have a future of promising opportunities. Due to its location at the junction of Highways 180 and 64, the main routes to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, the junction is uniquely situated. With increasing tourism to the region and currently limited private land base closer to the Canyon in Tusayan, there are opportunities to assist in providing visitor services at Grand Canyon Junction.
Although only 30 miles from the Grand Canyon National Park, the environment is very different from the environment surrounding the main South Rim portion of the Park. This contrasting environment is part of the essence of what is the community, and preserving it is important.
It is the uniqueness of the area which emphasizes the diversity important to the residents, and which is a critical element to maintain in developing a vision for the future by catching up with the times.
